Jamshedpur Gangster Vikram Sharma Murder: Brother Arvind Surrenders Before Dehradun Police

Jamshedpur: In a major development in the murder case of Jamshedpur-based gangster Vikram Sharma, his brother Arvind Sharma has surrendered before Dehradun Police. Three other accused — Akash Prasad, Ashutosh Kumar, and Vishal — have been identified in connection with the crime through CCTV footage.

Investigations revealed that the shooters had stayed in Haridwar prior to the incident. Their presence was captured on CCTV cameras at a hotel located near the railway station. The accused reportedly rented a scooter and a motorcycle from Haridwar to travel to Dehradun. After carrying out the crime, they returned the vehicles and fled.

A team from Dehradun Police has reached Jamshedpur to probe further and gather additional information. Police are also searching for another accused, identified as Prabhat, who had earlier arranged accommodation for Arvind Sharma in a house in Mango. It is alleged that the plan to eliminate Vikram Sharma was hatched there, and Arvind had arranged weapons for the shooters.

Sources said Vikram Sharma had allegedly taken away Prabhat’s contracts after learning that he had provided shelter to Arvind. A batching plant contract was also reportedly withdrawn from Prabhat and awarded to someone close to Vikram. This allegedly resulted in a financial loss of around Rs 2 lakh per month for Prabhat, which police believe may have been a motive behind the murder. Investigators suspect that Arvind and Prabhat jointly orchestrated the killing.

The murder case has been registered against unidentified assailants by the Dalanwala Police Station in Dehradun. Acting on the consent of Vikram Sharma’s wife, Sonia, a complaint was filed at Kotwali police station by his close friend Akhilesh Singh.

In his written complaint, Akhilesh Singh, a resident of Panash Valley on Sahastradhara Road, stated that around 10:40 a.m. on Friday, he received a distressed call from his friend Gaurav Singh informing him that “something had happened” to Vikram at the gym and asking him to rush to Max Hospital immediately.

Upon reaching the hospital, Akhilesh was informed that Vikram Sharma had been shot multiple times by unidentified assailants as he was stepping out of the gym. Doctors declared him dead after examination.

Akhilesh told police that Sonia considers him her brother and, being in deep shock after her husband’s murder, had entrusted him with the responsibility of initiating legal proceedings. Based on his complaint, police began formal action in the case.

Inspector Santosh Kunwar of Dalanwala Police Station said multiple teams have been formed and raids are being conducted to trace the shooters.

Vikram Sharma was cremated in Dehradun on Saturday. Family friends and several close associates from Jamshedpur attended the last rites.
