Jamshedpur: Villagers Impose Ban on Public Drinking at Ghutu Ground in Potka After Repeated Disturbances

Potka/Jamshedpur: Residents of Sangram Panchayat in Potka have raised their voice over the growing menace of outsiders consuming alcohol at the Ghutu ground, causing disturbance and damage to agricultural activities.

According to villagers, groups of individuals have been frequently gathering at the open ground to drink liquor. After consuming alcohol, they allegedly smash glass bottles on the ground, leaving behind sharp shards scattered across the fields.

The broken glass has not only posed a safety risk to residents and livestock but has also created significant hurdles in farming activities.

Fed up with the recurring nuisance, villagers formally lodged complaints with Mukhiya Abhishek Sardar and Potka Police Station in-charge Sunny Toppo, seeking immediate intervention to restore order in the area.

Taking swift action, the Panchayat has imposed a complete ban on drinking at the Ghutu ground.

Warning signboards have been installed at prominent spots around the field, clearly prohibiting alcohol consumption and cautioning against strict action for violations.

The local police have also responded positively to the grievance. Officials have appealed to residents to cooperate with law enforcement authorities and promptly report any further incidents of public drinking or vandalism.

Villagers expressed hope that the joint efforts of the Panchayat and police administration would ensure the ground remains safe, clean, and conducive for agricultural use and community activities.
