Jamshedpur: The MP of Jamshedpur Vidyut Varan Mahato has asked the South Eastern Railway authorities to expedite work on the construction of the proposed railway over-bridge in Jugsalai.
He said the government of Jharkhand was willing to extend all possible support to the Railway in connection with the overbridge project. He said a letter has already been sent to the Railway authorities regarding payment of land value for the project to the Railway by the state government. He said the Union Railway Minister had assured to speed up work on the project in his last meeting with him in New Delhi in connection with the project.
The meeting of South Eastern Railway Zonal Advisory Committee was held in Howrah. It was presided over by the General Manager of South Eastern Railway SN Agrawal.
At the very onset of the meeting, the Jamshedpur MP spoke about the issues related to railway services and facilities for the passengers of Jamshedpur constituency. He said that after much paper work and ground work done by the Jharkhand government, now it was the responsibility of the zonal railway authorities to ensure speedy completion of the overbridge project.
The GM told Mahato that a proposal regarding the overbridge had been sent to the Railway Board. Once approval is given to the proposal, the construction work would start, said the GM.
At the meeting, various passenger issues were discussed. The MP demanded that Tatanagar-Yashwantpur train should be run thrice a week and that its bogies should be replaced. He also demanded new train services from Tata to Howrah and Tata to Bangalore via Katpadi besides demanding that Lalmati Express be run on a daily basis.
Mahato further demanded that the Tata-Jammutavi Express train should be extended till Katra and that it should be renamed as Lauh Shakti Express. HE said the second entry gate to Tatanagar railway station should be started soon so that the traffic jam on Station Road may be prevented.
The other demands raised by the MP include total renovation and construction of a foot-over-bridge at Ghatsila and Dhalbhumgarh railway stations, construction of railway under-bridges at various railway level crossings in Ghatsila rail section and increasing the height of railway platform at Galudih.
Mahato expressed concern over the delay in the construction of a halt between Dhalbhumgarh and Ghatsila at Chirugora and between Haldipokhar and Bahalda at Sidirsai. He said the Raiway should give approval to the pending projects and complete them as soon as possible.
The MP also raised the issue of removal of encroachment from Tatanagar railway area. He said the daily vegetable vendors removed from the Station Main Road should be allowed to carry on their daily business at the vacant railway plot situated nearby. He said the Railway had no use of the land at present.
He handed over a memorandum of the said demands to the Railway GM who reportedly gave a positive response to the same.
