Jamshedpur, Jan. 30: Educated Unemployed Footpath Shopkeepers Association (EUFSA) headed by its president Shahi Adil and general secretary Vinod Kumar demanding resettlement of the shopkeepers took out a rally from Sakchi Bata Chowk which traversed through Sakchi market and concluded before the DC office.

At the DC office the shopkeepers protested and later submitted a memorandum in support of the demands to DC Amit Kumar.

The delegation urged the DC to help them resettle as they are unemployed since 21 July, 2015 and its more than 18 months that around 583 shopkeepers and their families are on the brink of starvation and some of the children of the shopkeepers have dropped out of the school.

Shahi Adil further said that for most of the people it is the only means of earning a living for their families. The admin should give a definite deadline within which the decision for the vendors will be decided. Several of the shopkeepers have migrated from Jamshedpur and some are constrained to commit suicide while two have died after suffering heart attack.

Eighteen months have passed since the Tuesday market has not convened and no decision in this regard is expected by the administration in near future. He further said that if there is no solution done to the problems of hundreds of Mangla haat shopkeepers then we would be forced to launch violent protest and the whole responsibility would be of the district administration.

On the occasion DC said, ‘We have decided to resettle the mangla haat shopkeepers but there are some technical issues and we are working on the same. Soon we will overcome the issues and relocate the shopkeepers at Vendor Zone.

Present on the occasion were Rajan Singh, Raju Singh Malya, Sriram Sharma,Parvinder Singh, Vinod Kumar, Sheikh Akhtar, Mehtab Alam, Mithun, Pappu, Shamsher and others.
