Urban Services organizes refresher training for sewing teachers

Jamshedpur: Refresher Training for the sewing teachers was organised from 10 � 15 July 2014, at Ram Das Bhatta Community Centre.

28 sewing teachers from various community centres of Urban Services attended the programme. The programme included detailed theoretical session on advanced stitching technology.

Vibha Mirajgoaker and Dr Aditi Karkedkar graced the occasion as the chief guest and guest of honour respectively during the closing ceremony and distributed certificates to the teachers.

Urban Services, Tata Steel aims at uplifting and giving equal status to women of the bustees through various women empowerment� activities such as sewing and stitching, hand embroidery, machine embroidery, mehendi rachna, zari work, beautician, fabric painting, sewing and stitching classes are being run through 12 community centres of Urban Services, Tata Steel. Around 700 women are trained every year.

To further improve on quality of the sewing classes Urban Services have partnered with Apparel Training and Design Centre (ATDC) to train women from urban community on an advanced stitching technology course in the operational area of Jamshedpur. The course will cover subjects such as Fabric Study, Apparel Production Technology, and Merchandising.
