Jamshedpur: The deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum Dr Amitabh Kaushal has asked the officials of the district health department to expedite work on the National Urban Health Mission and establish the urban primary health centre in the district by August this year.
The DC, addressing a meeting of the district health committee held today, said the NUHM was an ambitious project of the government aimed at providing all types of basic health facilities to the poor people in urban areas for free.
The DC said a Mahila Arogya Samiti is to be formed in slum areas under the NUHM. The committee will work to change the attitude of urban areas. Special attention will be given on ensuring coordination between the various departments of the government under the said project, the DC said.
A total of 25 urban health centres are to be opened in the city. Out of them, eight centres have got the nod from the Central government.
Today�s meeting was attended by district civil surgeon Dr Vibha Sharan, ADM Bal Kishun Munda, ACMO Dr KC Singh Munda, district RCH Officer Dr Maheshwar Prasad and other officials.
