Uproar over death of the worker in Jamshedpur’s Kadma, family receives compensation

Jamshedpur: The death of a labourer and the uproar caused by his death during the work of the sewerage line of TSUISL near Ramnagar Arogya Bhawan in Kadma ended at 1.30 pm on Wednesday after mutual agreement. After receiving compensation, the relatives agreed for the post-mortem. Prior to this company management, family members and local BJP and Congress leaders held talks at Kadma police station.

It was decided that at present a cheque of Rs 4 lakh would be given to the family. Apart from this, the company will deposit Rs 15 lakh in ESI. Also, Muni Sona, wife of the deceased Jeevan Sona, will get Rs 15,000 per month. In addition, the contractor Buddhadev Giri, will employ a son of the deceased.

The contract company may also be blacklisted. After the whole episode, it is being said that the contractor’s negligence has led to the accident. In this case, the contract company can also be blacklisted. However, no FIR has been made in the case so far. Kadma police said they are ready to take the case.

In the tripartite talks, TSUISL general manager, Dhananjay Mishra, Arvind Singh, Major Vicky Thakur on behalf of TSUISL, Muni Sona, wife of the deceased on behalf of family, elder son Sumit Sona and younger son Vicky Sona and Kadma Mandal president of BJP Rajesh Singh and some of the Congress party Leaders were also involved.

Jeevan Sona (48), a resident of Sakchi Garamnala, died due to mud sinking under Kadma police station area around 4.30 pm on Tuesday evening. Till late night, there was an exercise to remove the labourer. The rescue team faced a lot of trouble due to mud and water filling in the pit.

The labourer’s body appeared at around 10.30 pm after a long drill, but by the time he was removed, he had died. According to the local people, the labourer buried in the pit would have been evacuated in time, it would have saved his life. But the labourers working during the incident escaped from there. There is anger among the deceased’s relatives about the incident. The crowd of people remained frozen till late night.
