Unpaid driver sells off truck in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, July 20: In a startling turn of events, Jamshedpur police have apprehended four individuals for the theft of a truck from Jamco, situated under the jurisdiction of Govindpur police station. The culprits, identified as Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Dalbagh Singh, Mohan Das, and Tarakeshwar Gupta, were arrested following a meticulous investigation led by City DSP Sudhir Kumar. The theft, which occurred on July 5, was promptly reported, and diligent police work led to the recovery of the vehicle and the arrest of the driver, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who later revealed the motives behind the crime.

Bhuvneshwar, who had been employed as the driver of the stolen truck, confessed during interrogation that he had not received his salary for three months following the cessation of slag loading operations. Despite the halt in work, he continued his duties in hopes of compensation. However, as financial pressures mounted, Bhuvneshwar conspired with his associates to execute the theft. Disabling the truck’s GPS, they concealed the vehicle in Loabasa and subsequently negotiated its sale to Tarakeshwar Gupta for Rs 2.60 lakh, of which Rs 2.25 lakh was paid upfront. The police are currently pursuing another suspect linked to the case.
