Jamshedpur, April 19: Jamshedpur is set to welcome the construction of Unity Mall, a project aimed at promoting the ‘One District One Product’ initiative. The mall, envisioned to showcase local products and handicrafts, will serve as a platform to display items with a GI tag, emphasizing the uniqueness of products from the region.
Following the footsteps of Ranchi, Jamshedpur has been chosen as the next location for the establishment of Unity Mall. The initiative aims to boost local-level products that often remain confined to specific areas despite their distinctiveness.
The Urban Housing and Administration Department of the state government has identified a suitable location for the mall, and plans are underway to draft a proposal for the Central Government’s approval. Once approved, construction will commence, paving the way for the display and sale of products throughout the year.
With its proximity to tourist destinations, Jamshedpur was selected as an ideal location for Unity Mall, anticipating a high influx of visitors from neighboring states. The project will receive financial assistance from the Central Government, with an initial allocation of Rs 50 crore, which may be supplemented further.
