Jamshedpur, June 17: Union minister for communications and information technology Ravi Shankar Prasad on Friday said, the government could have celebrated the 2-years of BJP government in New Delhi but Narendra Modi government works differently and PM asked the union ministers to visit the people around the country and highlight the achievements.
‘We are working to change the country and help it run on the paths of development. The Soochana Bhawan in the national capital have barred the entry of middlemen since NDA government took over. ‘During the UPA rule the 2G scam took place from the same building but now after the spectrum auction Rs 1.10 lakh crore was deposited in the government’s treasure. Rs 3 lakh crore was received through coal block auction and the corruption has totally stopped’, said Ravi Shankar Prasad addressing the gathering at Michael John Auditorium.
Talking about Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), Union Minister said, State-owned telecommunication company was in Rs 10 thousand crore profit when Atal Bihari Vajpayee left as the PM but when Manmohan Singh left in 2014, BSNL was in Rs 8000 crore loss. BSNL is adding Rs 23 lakh customers every month.
Taking a dig at former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Union Minister said, ‘1 crore people left LPG subsidy in one appeal from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, not 12 thousand people would have left if any other PM would have appealed’.
‘We are fixing up towers in naxal affected areas and would appeal the Maoists to shun violence and join mainstream’, said Union Minister. Of 125 crore Indian population 102 crore use mobile phones while 101 crore use Aadhar card and 40 lakh use internet and 27 crore people use smart phone, he added.
He further informed that PM Modi wants to change the postal department and make India digitally empowered.
‘Our government is working for the poor and when the whole world is facing recession, India is growing at a pace of 7.6 %’, he said.
Ravi Shankar also praised Raghubar Das government saying the people of Jharkhand are witnessing growth and under the leadership of Raghubar Das it will move ahead swiftly.
358 km of optical fiber has been laid down in 3 years of UPA government but in the last two year of Modi government 1,22,000 km optical fiber has been laid, Union minister said, adding, ‘India is becoming superpower under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’.
