Union minister Arjun Munda inaugurates Aadi Mahotsav in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Oct 7: Aadi Mahotsav, a celebration of tribal culture and heritage, was inaugurated at Gopal Maidan in Bistupur on Saturday.

The event saw the presence of Union Minister Arjun Munda as the chief guest, along with Jamshedpur MP Vidyut Varan Mahato, Minister Joba Majhi, Meera Munda, Chanakya Choudhary, vice-president (Corporate Services), Tata Steel, and Gitanjali Gupta, managing director of TRIFED, among other distinguished guests.

The inauguration ceremony commenced with the lighting of the traditional lamp by the dignitaries. Aadi Mahotsav is scheduled to run until October 16 and promises to provide a platform that supports and promotes the tribal communities.

Speaking at the event, Arjun Munda highlighted the significance of Aadi Mahotsav in shaping the future of tribal communities across the country. He emphasized that this platform would serve as a catalyst for empowering tribes throughout India. The inception of Aadi Mahotsav was initiated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and today, tribal communities from various regions of the country are showcasing their talents and skills on a national stage.

Munda noted that opportunities were being extended to tribal artisans and producers from every corner of India, showcasing a diverse range of products from different regions. He also highlighted the significant production of lac in Jharkhand and expressed the commitment to provide new avenues for its growth.

The festival offers visitors the opportunity to shop for tribal handicrafts, savor tribal cuisine and witness a unique amalgamation of tribal art forms. Aadi Mahotsav is set to exhibit tribal products and cultural expressions, offering an enriching experience for attendees.

Over 150 stalls featuring 336 tribal artisans and artists

The Aadi Mahotsav features more than 150 stalls, showcasing the talent and craftsmanship of 336 tribal artisans and artists. The festival will comprise 100 stalls dedicated to handicrafts, 20 stalls offering a delightful array of tribal cuisine, and 30 stalls from the Union Ministry. These ministry stalls will provide valuable information and resources related to their initiatives and services, benefiting festival attendees.

All purchases made at the festival will contribute directly to the welfare and livelihoods of tribal artisans and artists. Visitors can explore and buy a wide range of tribal handicrafts, savor traditional tribal dishes, and gain insights into the Union Ministry’s initiatives.

The festival is open to the public and there is no entry fee, allowing people of all backgrounds to take part in the celebration of tribal culture and contribute to the economic well-being of tribal communities.
