Union Home Secretary praises Jharkhand Police for nabbing 745 naxalites since 2022

Ranchi, Oct 18: Jharkhand Police’s robust efforts in combating Naxalites have earned praise from the Union Home Secretary. Police Headquarters spokesperson IG Operations, AV Homkar, shared this information on Wednesday.

IG Abhiyan reported that in the 2022-23 period, security forces apprehended a total of 745 Naxalites, with 20 Naxalites killed in encounters, including high-profile individuals like Gautam Paswan (with a Rs 25 lakh reward), SAC member Ajit Oraon, Amar Ganjhu (with a Rs 5 lakh reward), Zonal Commander Ajay Yadav, and Subzonal Commander Lajim Ansari.

Additionally, 38 Naxalites have surrendered since 2022, and a sum of Rs 1,10,71,000 in levy collected during this period has been recovered. According to the IG Operations, Naxalite activities are now confined to Kolhan, but both the Jharkhand Police Force and Central Police Force are diligently working to eradicate them from this region as well.
