Jamshedpur: Railway authorities found an unidentified elderly man dead at Tatanagar railway station in the early hours of Monday. The discovery of the body near platform number one triggered immediate concern among passengers and station staff. Railway officials promptly notified the Government Railway Police (GRP) after finding the deceased.
GRP personnel reached the scene shortly after receiving the report and initiated an inquiry. A doctor from the railway hospital examined the man and declared him dead at the spot.
Police Investigation and Identification Efforts
The police took custody of the body and transported it to the MGM Medical College mortuary for a post-mortem examination. Investigators seek to ascertain the exact cause of death through this procedure. Officials estimate the deceased was approximately 60 years old.
Since the man carried no identity documents, the GRP could not immediately identify him. Consequently, the GRP registered a case of unnatural death and launched an investigation to establish his identity. Police are currently:
-
Reviewing recent missing person reports.
-
Contacting nearby police stations for potential matches.
-
Checking CCTV footage from the station premises.
“We found the body of an unidentified elderly man on the station premises,” a GRP official stated. “We have sent the body for post-mortem and are making every effort to establish his identity.”
