Unemployed couple make suicide bid in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Aug 22: Peeved over losing his job, a man, resident of Parsudih, attempted suicide by consuming pesticide along with his wife at their home on Saturday morning.

They were rushed to the MGM Medical College Hospital and it is said that unemployment was the reason behind the suicidal bid.

The couple, 54-year-old man Samir Gorai  and his 45-year-old wife Bharti Gorai are serious. Ashish Gorai, son of Samir Gorai said that his parents had gone to bed on Friday night.

” I am in a state of shock and can never imagine. When I woke up I found the door of the room my parents were still inside.  Though I tried to wake them  but there was no response.  Then only I called in the neighbours and we broke the door to find both of them lying on the bed.  We called an ambulance and rushed them to the medical college hospital,” said his son.

Ashish who is married said that his father was very frustrated ever since he lost his contractual job in April this year.

“My father was jobless just a few days after the lockdown was imposed in April and ever since he was sitting idle at home.  Unemployment is the reason behind the suicidal attempt,” said the son.
