Ugadi celebrated with joy in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, March 20: The Telugu New Year festival of Ugadi was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the All Jharkhand Telugu Samajam at its central office in Kadma.

On the occasion, President Y. Ishwar Rao extended New Year greetings to people across the country. He said Ugadi is a major festival for South Indians and marks the beginning of the New Year, observed on the first day of the month of Chaitra with traditional rituals and devotion. He also highlighted that the Samajam was formed to support and develop the Telugu-speaking community and expressed hope that it would grow stronger in the coming years. He further demanded caste-based reservation benefits for Telugu residents in Jharkhand, similar to those in Andhra Pradesh.

General Secretary L. Nageshwar Rao said that people in South India consider Ugadi an शुभ day to begin new ventures such as businesses or housewarming ceremonies. He urged members to stay united and work collectively for community progress.

Spokesperson Prasad Rao spoke about the cultural importance of the festival and the tradition of preparing Pachadi, a special dish made from raw mango, neem flowers, banana, coconut, and jaggery, symbolizing different aspects of life.

The Samajam also prayed for global peace on the occasion. Several members attended the celebration, which concluded with the distribution of Ugadi Pachadi as prasad.
