UCIL’s Jharkhand team shines in sports tourney

Jadugoda, March 13: UCIL’s Jharkhand team on Monday won the 37th sports competition organised by department of Atomic Energy from 12-14 March at Tarapur (Maharashtra).

UCIL union leader Anand Mahto bagged gold medal in 400m race, Ranjit Pariya won silver in 100m race and Balram Murmu got bronze in walking race. Union leader Anand Mahato informed that the competition will conclude on Tuesday, March 14.

This year, the participants from UCIL’s Jaduguda, Narvapahad and Turamdih Uranium Project put up great performance in the competition. A nine-member team of UCIL Jaduguda including Balram Murmu (Jaduguda Mill), Ram Janam Ram (Jaduguda Mines), Anand Mahto (Narvapahar Mines), Dogal Diggi (Narvapahar Mines), Tapan Kumar Majhi (Mill, Jaduguda) Virendra Hembrum (Narwa Pahar, Mines) LM Behera (Turamdih) Kali Pado Mardi (Narwapahar, Mines) are participating.
