Jamshedpur : Uranium Corporation of India Limited (UCIL), Jadugora has bagged the prestigious Golden Peacock Global Award for Corporate Social Responsibility.
The company was recognised for delivering tailored CSR projects for communities around its operational areas.
D Acharya, chairman cum managing director, UCIL, received the award on behalf of the company.
Golden Peacock Awards, founded by the Institute of Directors, have emerged as one of the prestigious corporate recognitions in various fields.
The award was given in Bangalore, in the presence of prominent leaders from various sectors
during the ‘8th International Conference on Corporate Social responsibility-2014, on January 17.
Golden Peacock Awards are now regarded as Holy Grail of Corporate Excellence Worldwide.
The awards are designed to stimulate and help organisations to rapid accelerate the pace of stakeholder oriented improvement process.
It is a powerful self-assessment process and a way to build an organizations’ brand equity
on ‘Corporate Social Responsibility’.
Addressing the media Acharya congratulated the company employees for the achievements.
He said that the company has won galore of awards recently.
Acharya bagged the prestigious ‘Gold Award’ for outstanding achievement as “HR Oriented CEO” in “Greentech HR Award” for the year 2013 conducted by Greentech Foundation, New Delhi.
Narwapahar Mines has won “Silver Award” for outstanding achievement in “Training Excellence” in “Greentech HR Award” for the year 2013 conducted by Greentech Foundation, New Delhi.
Acharya bagged the prestigious “BT Star PSU Excellence Award” as Star PSU CMD (Miniratna/Others) on 19th June 2013 at New Delhi for the year 2013 conducted by Bureaucracy Today.
UCIL’s R&D project ‘Underground Remote Asset Tracking System in UCIL Narwapahar Mine’ won Engineering Excellence Award as an Engineering Marvel of India, conducted by the magazine Engineering Watch – India’s most prestigious magazine dedicated to the Engineering Community.
It has won the award under People’s Choice category. UCIL awarded ‘Certificate of Merit’ in the National Award competition for Innovative Training Practices 2012 13, held by ISTD in New
Delhi.
Moreover, ISO 14001:2004 certification awarded to UCIL Narwapahar Residential Colony UCIL
received the ISO 14001:2004 certification for environment and management.
Narwapahar in all likelihood is the first mining township in India to have the honor of receiving this certification.
