UCIL Narwapahar displaced stage protest

Jamshedpur, September 27: Uranium Corporation of India Ltd (UCIL) Narwapahar Visthapit (Displaced) Committee members on Tuesday staged a one-day demonstration with their demands before the Narwapahar Uranium project main gate. Several women protesters holding placards shouted slogans ‘Provide us jobs or give back our land’.

The protest was headed by committee leader Somay Kisku.

On the occasion, Somay Kisku said, Adivasi people learn to live with peace and also to get their rights by fighting battle. History knows that whenever Adivasis have fought there has been a sea of change, added Kisku.

He further said that company should hold talks otherwise committee will be forced to launch indefinite strike.

A demand memorandum was also submitted to the UCIL management which includes several of the demands including providing jobs to the remaining displaced while increasing the seats for adivasi students at UCIL school.
