Jamshedpur, Nov 21: UCIL’s Jadugoda team won the first prize for Fresh Air Base in All India Rescue Competition creating an atmosphere of rejoicing among citizens of the uranium city. Babu Lal De was honored as the Best Captain of the UCIL rescue team. Captain Babu Lal De’s team included Ranjit Kumar Rana (Vice Captain), Sagar Majhi, Narayan Hansda, Bhuvan Chandra Bhakta, Bhakta Mardi, Nav Ranjan Bhakta (Team Manager) and Manas Kumar Ghosh (Team Coach). Amitabh Mishra accompanied the team.
The UCIL Jadugoda team was a part of the 26 teams from metal and non-metal mines across India that participated in the 51st edition of the championship to vie for top honours. The championship was hosted at Dariva at SK mines area in Rajasthan. Other teams that competed were Tata Steel, Hindustan Copper Limited, Ahuja Cement, Hindustan Zinc, WCL, MCL, Moyal (Kanpur) and others.
The purpose of hosting this annual event was to learn new techniques in rescuing and evacuating the injured persons safely, by the rescue team in case of mishaps during mining operations. The rescue teams play a vital role in the event of disaster.
Prior to the commencement of the competition, two minutes silence was observed in memory of the brave martyred company personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty or in the mines’ accidents.
