Jamshedpur: In a chilling incident late Sunday night around 11 PM, two youths were brutally murdered in Giru village under the Gudri area. The attack, suspected to be the handiwork of PLFI (People’s Liberation Front of India) extremists, involved sharp weapons and sticks.
The deceased have been identified as 22-year-old Ravi Tanti from Giru village, son of Vinod Tanti, and Ghansa Topno, a youth from Khunti. Acting on the information, Gudri police station in-charge Mahwa Minz, along with her team, reached the crime scene on Monday morning. The bodies were recovered and sent to Chakradharpur Sub-divisional Hospital for post-mortem.
The police have launched an investigation and suspect the involvement of PLFI extremists in the killings. At the scene of the crime, a Naxal poster was found on a tree at the village square. The poster called for a halt to sand extraction from Peding in Gudri to Serengda in Goilkera.
While confirming the presence of the poster, the police are probing its connection to the murders. The incident has sparked concern in the region, with local residents fearful of escalating extremist activities.
Authorities have intensified security measures in the area to prevent further incidents.
