Jamshedpur, Nov. 19 : In separate road mishaps, two persons, including a youth were killed at Golmuri and Sidghora police station areas late last night.
While in one of the mishaps, a 24-year-old youth Mohammed Rizwan was killed on the spot after being hit by another biker near Muslim Bustee under Golmuripolice station area on Saturday, in another mishap a 45-year-old man, Ashok Kumar Sahu was fatally injured on being hit by another bike rider at Baridih under Sidhgora police station area.
A resident of Birsanagar Sahuwas rushed to Tata Main Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Sunday. The victim would work at a private company in the steel city and was returning home as the mishap took place.
In both the mishaps, the victims were not wearing helmets. Rizwan who was a resident of Golmuri Muslim Bustee was riding a scooter. As he was passing through a crossing, a biker who was riding a sports bike came at a break-neck speed and hit Rizwan’s bike. He got seriously injured.
Locals rushed him to Tata Main Hospital. Rizwan succumbed to his injuries as he reached the hospital emergency.A relative said Rizwan used to work in Kuwait and had come home a fortnight ago as he was supposed to get married next month
Significantly, as the news of Rizwan’s death reach Golmuri Muslim bustee, a large number of youths belonging to the community came to the street and demanding the arrest of the accused biker, who was later identified as Kamal Singh, also a resident of Golmuri.
However, the situation had turned tense in the night as a section of agitated Muslim bustee youths started protesting and looking for Kamal across the locality, prompting the youth from another community taking to the street in support of Kamal. But timely intervention of the police and deployment of adequate number of police forces prevented the situation from going out of control.
OC, Golmuripolice station, RamjiMahto confirmed that police force had deployed at Golmuri, especially at the Golmuri Muslim Bustee since last night following the accidental death of a local youth, Mohammed Rizwan.
“We have beefed up security across the area. We have registered a case of rash-driving against Kamal Singh and also arrest him soon,” said Mahto.
