Jamshedpur, Nov 22: Two people were killed and three others seriously injured after a Hyva truck overturned on an e-rickshaw near Chaliyama on the Tata–Chaibasa Road on Saturday morning.
Police said the speeding truck suddenly went out of control and fell directly onto the e-rickshaw, leaving the passengers trapped beneath.
Locals rushed to the spot, rescued the injured and sent them to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment.
The mishap caused heavy traffic congestion on the busy route.
Police later cleared the road and launched a hunt for the truck driver, who fled the scene after the crash.
A probe has been initiated to determine the exact cause of the accident.
The incident has sparked concern among residents over frequent road accidents on the stretch, with demands for stricter traffic enforcement and improved road safety measures.
