Two Jamshedpur writers honoured with ‘Gurudev Sahitya Puraskar 2025’

Jamshedpur: In a proud moment for Jharkhand’s literary community, two writers from the state—Ansuman Bhagat and Sandeep Murarka—have been conferred with the prestigious Gurudev Sahitya Puraskar 2025, a digital literary award instituted by YOUx Talks e-magazine in memory of Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore.

The award, launched to celebrate literary voices that echo truth, humanity, and societal transformation, recognized 14 outstanding writers from across India and abroad. This inaugural edition focused on honoring contemporary authors whose works inspire purpose, challenge thought, and ignite positive change.

Ansuman Bhagat, a young author known for works like Ek Safar Mein, received the award for his literature steeped in morality, hope, and modern values. Responding to the honor, Bhagat said, “As a young author, this recognition motivates me to keep exploring the world through words. Literature is not just storytelling; it’s a reflection of society’s conscience.”

Sandeep Murarka, a successful entrepreneur turned poet, was awarded for his soul-stirring book Kuch Alfaaz Dil Se, a collection filled with emotional insight and personal reflection. His transition from business to literature has set an inspiring example of creative transformation.

The announcement was made by Sunil Sihag, founder of YOUx Talks, who remarked, “Each of the 14 recipients embodies Gurudev Tagore’s spirit—blending beauty with purpose, and individual creativity with universal values.”

Yogita Warde for her socially reflective novels including Sahi Aur Sudhir, Postcard, and Cooker Ki Seeti. Maitridevi Sisodia for her work on women’s empowerment such as Contemporary Cheerharan. Roshan Bhondekar for fusing literature and cinema to deliver positive messages. Ravindra Maradia, industrialist-turned-reformer, for his memoir Buddy to All.

 Dr. Preeti Amaresh, India-Switzerland-based writer, recognized for blending global policy themes into literature.

 Youth voices like Verushka Pandey (16, Delhi) and Aditya Sengupta Dhar (16, Mumbai) were also honored for their bold and insightful takes on mental health, youth issues, and culture.

The award also spotlighted works from Indian diaspora authors, digital storytellers, and women writers, making it one of the most inclusive literary recognitions of the year.

The Gurudev Sahitya Puraskar goes beyond being a literary honor. It is seen as a movement to reignite the spirit of literature in the digital era. “At a time when screens have overtaken pages, this initiative keeps the soul of conscious storytelling alive,” noted the award jury in its closing remarks.

The recognition of Ansuman Bhagat and Sandeep Murarka is being hailed as a moment of pride for Jharkhand’s literary and cultural landscape. Their work proves that amidst rapid technological shifts, the written word still has the power to awaken, connect, and heal society.
