Two injured as land dispute turns gory

Jamshedpur: Two persons were severely injured in violence that erupted following a land dispute in Daiguttu locality under Mango police station area on Tuesday. They were taken to Tata Main Hospital in serious condition, police said.

Police have arrested two persons in connection with the violence. The accused were interrogated by senior officials soon after their arrest.

Police said the incident took place in the afternoon when the families of Pyarelal Sao and Laxman Sao fell out with each other over a land dispute. Soon both sides took to violence and attacked each other with swords and lathi. Pyarelal and Hiralal were injured in an alleged attack by Laxman Sao. They were taken to MGM Hospital where doctors referred them to TMH.

Police have registered an FIR in this connection and begun an investigation to identity the culprits who led to the violence. They are also investigating into the claims of ownership by the two families on the plot of land.

Cops said they had received complaints from both factions accusing each other of starting the violence and trying to usurp the land. They said only a thorough probe could reveal the truth. They said they were waiting for the victims to recover so that they could give statement to police.
