Jamshedpur: City police arrested two alleged criminals in connection with separate incidents of shootout in Mango here on Friday.
Those arrested were identified as Amarnath Singh, resident of Gaur Busti, Krishnanagar, under Mango PS, and Rizwan Ahmad Khan, resident of Chepapul, Gulabbag, under Mango PS.
Police officials informed that Amarnath Singh was arrested during a raid conducted by police in Gaur Busti under Mango PS. During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed having been associated with the recent firing on one Prashant Singh in Olidih area. Amarnath and his aides had shot at Prashant, cops said.
Cops also confiscated a bottle bomb from the premises of Surya Mandir in Shantinagar area on the information of Amarnath Singh. The bomb was reportedly kept concealed by the accused to assault members of the rival Ganesh Singh gang. Prashant was reportedly an associate of Ganesh Singh, sources said.
Cops further informed that Rizwan was arrested from Gulabbag area at night on 27th October. A country-made pistol and a bullet was recovered from his possession during search, cops said. An FIR was lodged against the accused under Section 326, 307 and 34 of IPC and under 27 Arms Act.
Police officials said they had intensified action against criminals to put reins on their activities. In the recent few weeks, criminal activities had increased in Mango area as witnessed in several incidents of shootout involving gangsters.
State food minister and local MLA Saryu Roy had taken the district officials to task for the deplorable law and order situation and asked them to take action against the criminals immediately to restore law and order situation to normalcy.
