Two engineers of Jamshedpur electricity department among 5 killed in road mishap on Kandra-Seraikela Road

Jamshedpur: In a head-on collision five employees of Jharkhand Urja Vikas Nigam Limited ( JUVNL) died while the driver was rushed to Tata Main Hospital after the mishap on Kandra-Seraikela Road at Seraikela at neighbouring Seraikela-Kharsawan district. The accident took place near residence of deputy commissioner of Seraikela-Kharsawan district late night on Friday.

The incident took place when JUVNL employees while riding on Bolero met with an ill-fated head-on collision with truck coming from Chaibasa.

The victims were identified as Jharkhand Urja Vikas Nigam Limited ( JUVNL) T & C Division Jamshedpur Assistant Engineer Amit Dubey, electrical engineer Vipin Bihari, technician Ganesh Mahato, skilled cleaner Ranjit Kumar Chaudhary and employee Paras Chetamba.The bolero JS 05 CB 3638 driver was Shankar Lohar was injured and was rushed to Tata Main Hospital.


The accident happened late yesterday night when the JUVNL team was returning after an official visit to Chaibasa in West Singhbhum district.

Officer-in-charge of Seraikela police station Ranvijay Singh said a speeding truck collided head on with their sports utility vehicle (SUV). The injured has been admitted to TMH.

Four of them were killed on the spot under the impact of the collision while two others were rushed to MGM Hospital in critical condition, of whom one died later on, he said. The truck has been confiscated. The driver of the truck is absconding.

According to information, the team had gone to Chaibasa for testing of new transformer set up at the grid.

On receiving the information of the incident, the station officer in-charge reached the spot along with the ambulance and the police force. After getting the information, Deputy Commissioner Chavi Ranjan, Superintendent of Police Chandan Kumar Sinha and subdivision officer Sandeep Dubey reached the spot and expedited relief work. The body of the dead and dead bodies was removed using a gas cutter after two hours of hard work.

After primary treatment in Sadar Hospital, injured Paras Chetamba and driver Shankar Lohar were referred to MGM. On the way, Paras Chetamba died while driver Shankar was referred to TMH where his condition is being described as critical.
