Jamshedpur: The Sidhgora police arrested two drug peddlers involved in the sale and distribution of brown sugar on December 14 under the ongoing anti-narcotics drive “Operation Prahar”.
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, police received information that a group of youths was engaged in trafficking brown sugar and selling the narcotic substance in small packets to customers. After verifying the tip-off, a special team was constituted under the leadership of the Sidhgora Police Station in charge, which conducted a raid at the identified location.
During the operation, two suspects were apprehended. A thorough search led to the recovery of 43 packets of brown sugar, three mobile phones, and one motorcycle from their possession. During interrogation, both accused confessed to their involvement in the illegal trade of brown sugar.
Preliminary investigation revealed that they had been actively involved in drug trafficking for a considerable period and were contributing to the spread of substance abuse among local youths. Police are now probing their wider network to identify and arrest other members involved in the racket. A complaint has been registered against the accused at the Sidhgora police station.
After completion of legal formalities, both were produced before the court and sent to judicial custody. The city police administration reiterated that “Operation Prahar” will continue with full intensity, and strict action will be taken against anyone involved in the narcotics trade. Citizens have been urged to cooperate by sharing any information related to drug activities to help make society drug-free.
