Jamshedpur, April 5: The spike in COVID-19 cases continued in Jamshedpur with 99 new infections reported on Monday, April 5, taking the total tally to 1,96,64 mark. With new infections on the higher side, the caseload continues to witness a surge and Jamshedpur now has more than 650 active cases.
After a gap of one day two coronavirus deaths have been reported in Jamshedpur on Monday. Earlier on April 3, 49-year-old died due to the infection.
The number of active cases went up to 670 while two deaths took the death toll to 379.
The hotspot areas of the Steel City Mango, Kadma, Sonari and Sakchi continue to witness a virulent spread of COVID.
Of the 2171 samples tested in Jamshedpur on Sunday 99 positives were reported.
The district administration said it would go for aggressive containment and stricter enforcement of health protocols such as wearing masks and keeping social distance.
The surge has led to an increase in hospitalisation.
On Monday, East Singhbhum district saw 31 people recover of the virus.
Of the 99 new cases, 97 are from Jamshedpur urban area and two from Ghastila.
31 people recovered of the virus on Monday taking the total recovery to 18315 while total active cases in Jamshedpur are 670.
East Singhbhum district administration has conducted 236856 test per million in the district. The recovery rate in Jamshedpur is 95.07% while the mortality rate is 1.96 %.
So far in Jamshedpur 646097 samples have been collected out of which 630512 have been tested and 611148 have turned out to be negative.
