Jamshedpur, October 3: Three members of a family from Brahmanand Aashiyana, under Kapali OP area of Chandil subdivision, consumed pesticide, leading to the death of two, while one was reported to be in critical condition. The incident occurred on October 2, when Gyan Prakash Srivastava, his wife Sunita Srivastava, and his mother Krishna Kanti Srivastava consumed poison outside their residence. They were rushed to Brahmanand Hospital by neighbors, where both women were pronounced dead, while Gyan Prakash remained critical.
The cause of this incident was linked to Gyan Prakash’s son, Anshu Srivastava, who had taken approximately ₹60-70 lakh from family and friends, promising returns through share market investments. However, after losing all the money in the market, creditors began pressuring him to repay the loans, leading to his disappearance from the city.
Gyan Prakash, along with his wife and mother, were left to face relentless pressure from creditors. The pressure from creditors on the three family members led to the decision of ending their lives. Gyan Prakash recorded a video before consuming the pesticide, taking full responsibility for their actions and absolving anyone else from blame.
The family hailed from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh, and local police have initiated an investigation into the case.
