Jamshedpur, Oct 3: As the festive spirit sweeps through Jamshedpur, the city’s markets and malls are witnessing a shopping frenzy, with people eagerly preparing for the much-awaited Durga Puja celebrations. The vibrant streets are buzzing with excitement as people are on a spree to deck themselves out in the latest fashion trends, while also hunting for the best deals and offers.

From the last week of September, the fashion sales have taken over malls and markets, offering everything from traditional sarees and lehengas to trendy western outfits, making it a perfect time for all to update their wardrobes for puja pandal hopping. With discounts as high as 60-80% off and exclusive prize offers, shoppers are taking full advantage of the festive season to make the best profits.

Among the most sought-after items this season are sarees, a timeless favorite, especially during Durga Puja. Shoppers can be seen flocking to local stores to brand houses in the city in search of popular varieties like the classic Tat and Kanjeevaram sarees, along with intricate embroidery sarees and the luxurious Jimmy Choo sarees. Bangladeshi sarees, with their rich cultural heritage and fine craftsmanship, continue to be a top choice for women looking to embrace tradition this festive season.

The festive mood is contagious in the city, with people across the city flocking to shopping hubs, especially during peak hours from 4:30 PM to 9:00 PM. The malls to attract shoppers are offering special promotions and discounts. Shoppers are not just buying for themselves but also picking out gifts for family and friends, with home decor and accessories also seeing a rise in demand.

Rajesh Kumar Sinha, Nagarmal Mall store manager, said, “This season saree section is witnessing an overwhelming response, with discounts ranging from 25% to 30% compared to other markets. Our customers are excited about the special offers, with discounts reaching up to 75% on selected items and free gifts on purchases above Rs3,000.”
While, Jamshedpur youths are embracing both ethnic and western outfits, adding a modern touch to their festive fashion. Sharara sets, Nayera and Alia-cut Kurtis, and long gowns are becoming must-have items, while crop tops, jeans, and one-piece dresses are the choice for the young girls and women.
The Steel City popularly known for its mixed culture and also called mini Mumbai, is also gearing up for Dandiya nights. The market is full with vibrant Chaniya Cholis and Ghagras becoming increasingly popular for Navratri celebrations.
Ishika Roy,22, a resident of Mango, said, “After two-years I’m back in city. This years pujo is very special for me as I will celebrating it with family and friends. There are lots of option but I’m looking for a traditional Bengali saree and a mix blend of western and Indian outfits for puja hopping.”
The little ones are the ones who are very excited for the upcoming puja pandal hopping and the market keeping them in mind has come up with various choices for them mixed with fashion and fun. The kids’ clothing section is brimming with new arrivals, with boys’ cargo jeans and two-piece sets flying off the shelves, while girls are opting for cute Patiala suits, Sharara sets, and western tops.
