Two-day 31st Shri Shyam Mahotsav gets off to rousing start in Jamshedpur

Chants of �Jai Shri Shyam� reverberate throughout Sakchi

Jamshedpur, Feb 05: More than 1,100 devotees, mostly women took out Shri Shyam�s flag (Nishaan) procession replete with floats of Radha and Krishna amidst chants of �Jai Shri Shyam� and �Radhey-Radhey� that reverberated throughout Sakchi. The procession started from the Sakchi Shiv Mandir at 2 pm and traversed through Sakchi Palang Market, the Sakchi roundabout, Straight Mile Road and Kasidih before returning to the temple where the flags were placed at the feet of Baba Shyam.

The 31st Shri Shyam Mahotsav, organized jointly by Shri-Shri Sakchi Shiv Mandir and Shri Shyam Parivar commenced with the worship of the Nishaan at the temple complex at 11 am by Anjana and Manoj Agrawal, Anju and Naresh Singhania and Anita and Amit Sah under the supervision of temple priests Harikant Pandey and Shiv Kumar Banerjee.

During the procession, popular local Bhajan singer Mahavir Agrawal�s melodious voice added to the touch of religious fervor as the procession, in a blaze of colours moved on. Two children on two horses rode up front followed by two huge Nishaans of the Lord. The Nishaans included the parks of three arrows of Shri Krishna, Lord Hanuman and Lord Shiva.

Devotees decked up Baba Shyam�s Darbar with multi-hued and fragrant flowers. Chief guest on the occasion was Jugsalai legislator Mangal Kalindi was welcomed with a religious scarf on which was printed, �Baba Shyam.� Kalindi prayed to Lord Shyam for Jharkhand�s happiness, joy, peace and prosperity.

At 8:30 pm, the Akhand Jyot was worshipped by Rupa and Ashok Bhalotia. The priest duo of the temple supervised the prayers and later tied the protection thread (Raksha Sutra) on the wrists of devotees.

A dance drama was presented in the evening. later, Jamshedpur�s Krishnamurthy started the programme of devotional songs and his mellifluous voice was infectious as milling devotees started swaying to his renditions. He was followed by guest artistes Surabhi Chaturvedi from Jaipur and Kumar Dipak from Kolkata who further revved the pious spirit among Baba Shyam�s followers.

On Thursday, February 6, a Bhandara will be organized to distribute consecrated food from 12:30 pm. According to the organizers, more than 5,000 devotees will be partaking of the Prasada.

The organizing committee includes organization�s president Bablu Agrawal, Subhash Shah, Suresh Agrawal, Umesh Sah, Girdhari Lal Khemka, Kamlesh Chowdhary, Tushar Jindal, Mohit Sah, Pawan Khemka, Shyam Sunder Moonka, Naresh Agrawal, Monty Agrawal, Rishabh Moonka, Mahesh Agrawal, Asish Khanna, Amit Sah, Rahul Chowdhary, Aman Naredi, Manoj Pappu Agrawal, Naresh Singhania, Aman Khemka, Manish Sharma, Vivek Agrawal, Shubham Debuka, Akshay Agrawal, Vikas Bhautika, Ashok Modi, Omprakash Ringasia, Bajrang Lal Agrawal, Sanwarmal Agrawal and Satyanarayan Agrawal.
