Jamshedpur, April 8: Two siblings, Md Hasan and Md Sarfraz alias Tilli of Gauri Shankar Road in Jugsalai were arrested by the police in connection with the recent firing incident targeting Md Afzal in Gharib Nawaz Colony under Jugsalai police station Police authorities recovered the weapon allegedly used in the incident, following the lead provided by the accused. It may be mentioned that a cartridge shell was retrieved from the scene of the crime.
SSP Kishore Kaushal revealed this development on Monday, highlighting that firing had occurred recently targeting Md Afzal in Gauri Shankar Road of Jugsalai. Acting on a complaint filed by Afzal’s wife, the police registered an FIR against Md Hasan, Md Sarfaraz alias Tilli, and their father. The complaint alleged that the firing was a response to the illicit sale of brown sugar.
However, further investigation revealed a different dimension to the case. Afzal was suspected of pilfering FCI grains arriving by train, prompting a raid at his residence. Afzal suspected Sarfaraz of informing FCI authorities about his activities, leading to to the latter being held captive at Afzal’s house. When Sarfaraz’s mother arrived and intervened, Hasan arrived at Afzal’s house and opened fire on him.
While the involvement of Sarfaraz’s father remained unclear, police authorities continue to probe the matter.
