Twin cyclonic circulations trigger rain in Jamshedpur

Weather alert for southern and central Jharkhand

Jamshedpur: The meteorological landscape in Jamshedpur and its surrounding regions has once again been influenced by the presence of twin cyclonic circulations hovering over neighbouring states. These atmospheric phenomena have led to a shift in weather patterns, resulting in cloud cover and the imminent threat of rainfall in the southern and central parts of Jharkhand today.

Satellite imagery has revealed that one of the twin cyclonic circulations is positioned over southern Chhattisgarh, Marathwada, and Telangana, approximately 0.9 Km above mean sea level. Simultaneously, the other circulation is located over northwest Uttar Pradesh, hovering at an altitude of 3.1 Km above mean sea level.

Weather experts have indicated that the impact of these twin cyclonic circulations is likely to manifest in light rainfall at isolated places over southern and adjoining central parts of the state today. Consequently, the adverse weather conditions have caused a noticeable rise in the minimum temperature, with Ranchi recording a minimum of 11.5 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal.

Jamshedpur, too, witnessed a sudden increase in the minimum temperature, reaching 14 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal, owing to the prevalent cloud cover. Other regions such as Daltonganj, Bokaro, and Chaibasa in the neighboring West Singhbhum district also experienced a similar rise in minimum temperature.

Weather forecasts suggest that this upward trend in minimum temperatures is expected to continue for the next 24 hours, after which a subsequent fall is anticipated. Consequently, residents of Jamshedpur and its adjoining areas woke up to gloomy and overcast conditions, accompanied by moderate to heavy fog in several places this morning, leading to poor surface visibility.

Meteorological department officials have predicted a further increase in minimum temperatures by 3-5°C over southern and adjoining central Jharkhand in the next 24 hours. However, a subsequent decrease by 2-3 °C is expected in the following two to three days. As the region braces for these weather fluctuations, residents are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions to navigate the changing climate conditions.
