Jamshedpur: Jharkhand Vasi Ekta Manch is going to organize a grand Tusu Mela at Gopal Maidan, Bistupur, on 21st January.
Several competitions will be held for the participants. Best participants will be felicitated and given award. The team of Budhi Gaadi Naach will also be awarded, organizers said.
The participants will also be given consolation prizes as encouragement for their performance. This was informed today at Shahid Nirmal Mahato Bhavan at Sonari by the chief convener of the programme Astik Mahato, MP of Jamshedpur Vidyut Varan Mahato, MLA of Ichagarh Sadhu Charan Mahato and social worker Fanindra Mahato during a press conference.
Astik Mahato said the chief purpose of organizing the event was to keep the Adivasi culture and tradition intact so that the young generation may know about the same.
He said many dignitaries were being invited to attend the event.
Mahato demanded that the state government should provide jiggery, cooking oil, moodhi (puffed rice), chura (beaten rice) and other food items to the villagers of the state at subsidized rates in view of Tusu and Makar Sankranti.
The MP of Jamshedpur said he would demand three days holiday for Tusu from the state government.
The posters of the forthcoming event were also released today by the organizers.
Among those present during the press conference included Sukhdev Mahato, Makad Mahato, Bablu Mahato, Vijay Mahato, Kamal Mahato, Ashok Mahato, Ashok Singh and Lakhindra Karmakar.
