TSFIF organizes Healthy Baby Competition 2016

Jamshedpur, Nov. 14: Tata Steel Family Initiatives Foundation (TSFIF), one of the arms of Tata Steelís Corporate Social Responsibility department, organized an annual healthy baby competition on Monday on the occasion of Childrenís Day. Through this annual event, TSFIF aims to educate parents on immunisation, breastfeeding practices and nutrition.

This year, the preliminary round was conducted in all maternal and child health clinics run by the TSFIF doctors and team in Jamshedpur. The criteria for short listing the babies included meeting health criteria for the babies as well as awareness level of the mothers. A total of 96 babies (equally divided among boys and girls) were shortlisted from among 752 babies from 12 clinics for the final round held at TSFIF, Kadma.

The chief judge of the competition Dr B. R. Master adjudged champion baby girl and baby boy.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest Dr S. K. Jha, Civil Surgeon, East Singhbhum, appreciated the role of TSFIF in supporting the government efforts for over five decades to provide maternal and child healthcare services.

He congratulated all the mothers who participated in the annual event and gave prizes to the mothers of winners.

In her address, Dr B R Master stressed that it is the duty of parents to ensure proper nutrition, immunization and breastfeeding for the growth and development of their children.

Dr. P. C. Mohapatra was the Guest of Honour. Dr Pushpa Tiwari, Joint Administrator, TSFIF along with staff members was present.

The entire staff of TSFIF was engaged in organising this important annual event.
