TSF organises training session on ‘Mushroom Cultivation’

Bolani (Odisha) Jan 31: Tata Steel Foundation (TSF), the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) wing of Tata Steel organised a one-day exposure visit-cum-training session on ‘Mushroom Cultivation’ for members of local women Self Help Groups at Bichakundi on Thursday.
24 SHG members from 7 SHGs of Palsa Ka and Palsa Kha village under Joda block visited the ‘Mushroom Farming Unit’ of Samaleswari SHG at Bichakundi and participated in the day-long training programme. During the exposure visit, Pradipta Kumar Mansingh and Azhar Ali Khan of Tata Steel Foundation gave hands-on training to the participants on various aspects of mushroom cultivation including basics of mushroom farming techniques, how to start the cultivation, water management and moisture control.

The resource persons also informed the participants regarding market linkage options available in the region. The exposure visit and the training session aimed at providing technical support to these SHG members to establish their own mushroom cultivation units. The women have shown keen interest in mushroom farming which has good income generating potential in the area. Amit Kumar Dubey, Head, Manganese Group of Mines, Tata Steel also interacted with the participants and encouraged them to start mushroom cultivation. This training and exposure visit will be followed by cultivation by the women at their respective villages which will be closely monitored by the experts at Tata Steel Foundation.
