TSAF Climbing Academy Wins Tata Cup at Tata Steel Climbing Championship

Jamshedpur, January 28: The Tata Steel Climbing Championship 2026 concluded with exciting competitions and strong international participation, bringing together climbers from India, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Nepal. Athletes competed in lead, boulder, and speed climbing events across various age categories, showcasing high levels of skill and sportsmanship.

Along with competitive events, the championship also focused on community engagement. More than 300 school students from Jamshedpur took part in a drawing competition based on sports and mountaineering themes. Zumba sessions and recreational activities were also organised for athletes, creating a lively and inclusive atmosphere.

The closing ceremony was held on January 27, starting with the finals of the speed relay event. Probal Ghosh, Vice President, Asset and Energy Management, Tata Steel, attended as the Chief Guest, while Abhijit Avinash Nanoti, Managing Director of JCAPCPL, was the Guest of Honour. Senior officials from the Indian Mountaineering Foundation were also present.

Athletes from the Tata Steel Adventure Foundation (TSAF) Climbing Academy delivered an outstanding performance, winning a total of 39 medals out of 81. This included 12 gold, 13 silver, and 14 bronze medals.

Based on the overall points earned across categories, TSAF Climbing Academy emerged as the winner of the Tata Cup 2026. The trophy was presented to the team by Probal Ghosh during the ceremony, marking a proud moment for the academy.
