Jamshedpur, January 28: Tata Steel Sports Department organised the first Inter Corporate Table Tennis Championship at the Table Tennis Training Centre, JRD Tata Sports Complex, on January 24 and 25, 2026. The tournament aimed to promote sports culture among corporate organisations in Jamshedpur and highlight the world-class sports facilities available at the complex for the local community.
The final match and prize distribution ceremony were held on January 25. Suvabrata Dutta, Regional Manager, ICICI Bank, Jamshedpur, attended as the Chief Guest, while Mukul Vinayak Choudhari, Chief Sports, Tata Steel and CEO of Jamshedpur FC, was the Guest of Honour. Capt. Manish Sinha, Head – Sports (Events and Training Centres), Tata Steel, was also present.
In an exciting final, Tata Steel defeated Tata Motors 3–2 to lift the championship trophy. Tata Power secured third place after beating the National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML) 3–1 in the playoff match.
Nine teams from various Jamshedpur-based organisations took part in the championship, showing strong participation from the corporate sector. The Tata Steel team included Dinesh Rakshit, Capt. Manish Sinha, Kanishka Dutta, and Rajiv Dutta.
This victory marked Tata Steel’s third podium finish in the current financial year, following runner-up positions at the All India Tata Inter Company Championship in Mumbai and the All India Inter Steel Plant Championship.
Other participating teams included Tata Power, Tata Motors, NML, Tata Consultancy Engineering, IBMD, and Tata Steel Gamharia.
