West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharswan win their opening match

Jamshedpur, July 31: Tourism, art culture, sports and youth affairs department of Jharkhand under the aegis of East Singhbhum district administration three-day divisional level Subroto Cup football tournament kicked-off at Tinplate Sports Complex on Wednesday, July 31. East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Ravi Shankar Shukla inaugurated the tournament in presence of DDC B Maheshwari. Chief Guest DC Shukla encouraged the students and congratulated the organizing committee for hosting the event.

Present on the occasion were Ashish Kumar, Head, Sports, Tata Steel, Chief Handball Coach Hassam Imam, Tata Motors Sports department manager GB Singh, Uday Kumar of Tinplate Company, administrator Tinplate Company Baldev Singh, Tata Steel assistant coach Jagannath Behera and others.
The nine champion teams from all the three districts of Kolhan are participating in the U-14 boys and U-17 boys and girls’ category. Total of 150 players including 100 boys and 50 girls from hosts East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan are part of the tourney.
Host East Singhbhum didn�t start well as they lost three matches on the trot in different age categories. East Singhbhum lost the U-14 boys match to West Singhbhum by 5-1. With this win West Singhbhum have acquired three points and are on top of the points table. In the second match also East Singhbhum were defeated by West Singhbhum boys in the U-17 match by 1-0. In the third match Seraikela defeated East Singhbhum by 3-0 in the girls U-17 match. At the end of the day East Singhbhum is placed at the bottom of the table losing all their three matches.
To make the event successful, district sports officer Manmohan Prasad, Veer Pratap Murmu, Ajambar Singh Sardar, Wasifur Rahman, Nitin Kumar Sharma, Kamlesh Kumar Singh, SK Sharma and others provided full support.
