Jamshedpur, March 4: A group of two students of Jharkhand returned home from Ukraine on Friday. They arrived at the Ranchi Airport. Zafar Ansari of Jamshedpur was one of them who witnessed the terrible war situation in the European nation.

On reaching Jamshedpur, Zafar heaved a sigh of relief. “In the war-hit Ukraine, there was no one to help us. But as soon as we saw the rescue team from India with the Tricolour, our hopes for life and a safe return to our motherland were revived,” he said.

According to Zafar, still many more Indians are stuck in Ukraine in hope of evacuation. The number of such people could be in hundreds, he said.

“Our university had sent a message to the Indian Embassy on behalf of Indian students for our evacuation. We had no idea that the war would affect every area. I am grateful to the Central government for my safe return,” he said.

Zafar said the Indian students stuck in Ukraine had received war alert but had no idea of the situation getting worse so fast. Ignoring the alert resulted in a bad situation for one and all, he said.
