Jamshedpur, Feb 4: The New Purulia Bus Stand at Mango from where passengers get connectivity to Dhanbad and Bokaro, besides Purulia at Building No 2, is bereft of minimum comforts. Passengers face harassing times while waiting to board the buses for these destinations to the absence of amenities.
This was stated at a press meet at the terminus complex by Transport Development Committee (TDC) general secretary Shankar Dayal Dubey who blamed the district administration for the prevailing woes. He lamented that even after writing to the local administration and the State Urban Development Minister but no measures had been taken to rectify the ills.
Dubey said, Unauthorized shanties, pushcarts and makeshift hotels are allowed to set up shop in the terminus compound solely with the purpose of collecting underhanded money. As a result of the crowding of the allocated stand at Building no 2 by these unauthorized vendors, bus drivers have no other option but to park their vehicles on either side of the road that creates congestion for which the administration takes action.
The TDC has informed in writing to the district administration and other authorities on this issue and that on encroachment outside the terminus but no action had been taken thus far, Dubey informed.
Sanjay Jha, Prem Dixit and other TDC officials were present at the press meeting.
