Jamshedpur : Movement of trains on the Tata-Chakradharpur-Rourkela section of South Eastern Railway ( SER) has been affected due to maintenance and track repairing work near Rajkharsawan.

The hurdle, which began on Monday, is expected to last till September 16. Railway officials at Tatanagar said that this would force several trains like Howrah-Barbil Janshatabdi Express, Tata -Gua Passenger and Tata-Barbil Passenger to either travel on a diverted route. This will result in delay in movement of trains.

Several passenger trains and a few mail and express trains running in the Chakradharpur and Rourkela section of South Eastern Railway were running late today by more than one hour.

” It is a normal process and trains will remain affected till September 16 till the maintenance and track repairing work gets over. We are taking necessary steps so that the passengers do not face any inconvenience,” said Awtar Singh, the station manager of Tatanagar.

He said that due to the non-interlocking work no trains will be either cancelled or short-teminated. An additional ticket counter has been opened at Tatanagar. In case trains are delayed by over three hours, passengers can opt for ticket refund. Due to the rail block, most trains will run behind scheduled for the next few days, said a railway official.

Railway officials at the enquiry office said they were having a tough time answering queries of harrowed passengers.
