Jamshedpur, May 19: A trainee police constable Alok Kumar posted at Jaduguda thana in East Singhbhum district was caught by the anti corruption bureau (ACB) unit red handed while he was taking a bribe of Rs 7,000 at Sadar Hospital in Khasmahal, Parsudih near Jamshedpur and recovered the amount and took him into custody on Wednesday afternoon.
The constable was from the 2018 batch.
According to sources, the constable was sent by the Jaduguda thana officer-in-charge to Sadar Hospital in Khasmahal to prepare inquest report on the death of a biker who died in a road mishap near Narwa and take statements of the deceased youth’s family.
The constable had called another person from Jaduguda to the hospital and had sought the bribe on the pretext of weakening the case. The person had informed the ACB, Jamshedpur unit about the constable seeking bribe of Rs 7000. The ACB unit laid a trap and caught the constable red-handed.
