Covid-19 active cases drop below 4,000 in Jamshedpur

City records 241 new infections, 449 recoveries, 6 deaths 

Jamshedpur, May 19: The positivity rate of Covid-19 cases in Jamshedpur is around 5.56 per cent after East Singhbhum conducted over 5000 tests in the last 24 hours. The Steel City tested 5179 samples, of which, 241 turned out positive while 449 people recovered from the Covid-19 on Wednesday, May 19.

Meanwhile, 6 deaths were recorded in the same duration. The continuous high number of tests have pushed the positivity rate further down to 5.56 per cent, the government data showed.

The recovery rate has climbed to 90.22 % while the active cases have come down to 3945.

449 positive people recovered of the virus on Wednesday pushing the recovery mark to 42981.

Deaths due to the virus continue to be sign of worry as 6 people succumbed due to Covid on Wednesday, May 19, East Singhbhum Covid bulletin said.


City reported 6 deaths on Wednesday while district’s positive cases tally has mounted to 47881. According to the data provided by the East Singhbhum district health department on Wednesday 6 fatalities were due to the Covid-19 infection in the last 24 hours. The death toll has climbed to 955. 

East Singhbhum district administration has conducted 323579 test per million in the district. 

As per the records of health department  out of 5179 people who underwent Covid tests in East Singhbhum 241 were found positive.

Over 5000 COVID-19 tests, including 1683 RT-PCR and 3016 RAT were conducted in the last 24 hours in the city.

The recovery rate in Jamshedpur is 90.22% while the mortality rate is 1.99%.

So far in Jamshedpur 866874 amples have been collected out of which 861368 have been tested and 813487 have turned out to be negative.
