Jamshedpur : Movement of both passenger and goods trains were affected between Kharagpur and Tatanagar section of South Eastern Railway today due to repairing work between Chakulia and Kokpara.
Railway sources said that the repairing work began at around 7 am and continued till 5 pm. The block was meant for repairing of railway tracks as well as overhead high-tension cable.
As per information, Titlagarh-bound Ispat Express for delayed for about half-an-hour, when it reached
Tatanagar railway station. The repairing work on the tracks also affected movement of the Kharagpur-Tatanagar passenger train which left the originating station ( Kharagpur) 35-minutes behind schedule. The train was supposed to leave Kharagpur around 8.15 am but today it left after 8.45 am.
The Howrah-Ghatshila MEMU train was short-terminated at Chakulia. The train resumed its return journey from Chakulia railway station instead of Ghatshila.
Station manager of Tatanagar, Awtar Singh said that the movement of trains were affected because of the railway block. “Some trains were affected due to the repair job which was important to be completed. Normal train services in the Kharagpur-Tatanagar section is expected to be restored late in the evening.
Railway officials at Tatanagar said that a similar railway block was undertaken at the washing line at Tatanagar for six hours on Saturday due to repairing work.
