Trailer hits bus on Chaibasa- Noamundi Road, one dies, 10 injured

Jamshedpur, Jan. 23 : In road mishap, a total of 11 persons were injured, one of them fatally, when the bus they were travelling in hit a trailer at Talaburu village on Chaibasa- Noamundi Road under Tonto police station area in West Singhbhum district on Tuesday morning.

The injured were rushed to the Chaibasa Sadar Hospital from where nine of the seriously injured were referred to Tata Main Hospital for treatment. One of the injured, Ramesh Mishra (50) succumbed to his injury at the Tata Main Hospital. Mishra was the driver of the bus and was a resident of Jhinkpani near Chaibasa.
OC, Tonto police station, Bam Shankar Yadav said that the bus, was coming from Jamshedpur and was going to Joda in Odisha at about 5 am when the mishap took place.There were about 40 passengers, including women. They were sent to Joda by pick-up vans.

” We are investigating the mishap. As per our initial probe a trailer was coming from the opposite direction and the bus was plying at a high speed, but suddenly the driver of the bus lost its control and hit the trailer by its side, causing the mishap,” said Yadav.

The officer-in-charge said at the time the mishap took place when there was fog and it seemed that the bus driver who was at a very high speed might have missed to see the trailer which was coming from the front due to the fog. He said the trailer driver, however, fled the scene as soon as the mishap took place.

According to sources, all the 11 injured including a woman Mitali Chaudhury (30) and a five-year-old girl Pinki were taken to the Chaibasa Sadar Hospital. As condition of nine persons was serious they were shifted to Tata Main Hospital. The driver of the bus, Ramesh Mishra, was among the nine injured shifted to Tata Main Hospital.
