Jamshedpur: A fatal collision occurred between two trucks on NH-49 near the Forest Guest House of Barsol police station, resulting in the death of one truck driver and injuries to two others. The incident took place on Monday night.
The collision involved a truck with registration WB 23 D/3674, traveling from Jamshedpur to Kolkata loaded with paper rolls, and another truck with registration WB 33 C/4379, which was heading in the wrong direction from Baharagora after loading paddy and carrying petrol. The driver of the latter truck, due to glare affecting his vision, lost control, leading to the head-on collision between the two trucks. The impact was severe, causing the paper-loaded truck to be thrown aside.
Tragically, Subhash Kumar (43), a resident of Chhapra, Bihar, who was driving the paper-loaded truck, got trapped inside and succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile, both the driver and the passenger of the paddy-loaded truck suffered serious injuries. Barsol police station in-charge Ramdayal Oraon and his team promptly arrived at the scene, transporting the injured to Baharagora hospital.
Efforts were made to rescue the trapped driver using a crane from Baharagora and a gas cutter. The injured individuals, identified as Ijwan Ansari (27) and Ramesh Kumar (32), were among those assisted by the emergency response team. The incident drew the attention of onlookers, including Animesh Sahu, Chandi Das, Pawan Das, Nitai Chandra Das, who were present during the rescue operation.
