Varanasi: In a shocking and tragic incident, four members of a family hailing from Andhra Pradesh were discovered dead by suicide in Devanathapura, within the Dashashwamedh police station area of Varanasi. The incident occurred in Kailash Bhawan on the third floor, sending shockwaves through the community.
The deceased have been identified as Jayaraj (23 years), Lavanya (45 years), Konda (50 years), and Rajesh (25 years). Police were alerted to the grim scene after breaking into the room, where the family had hanged themselves. The investigation is currently underway, with forensic teams on-site to gather evidence.
The family, residents of the Manda Peta area in East Godavari district, had embarked on a spiritual journey to Varanasi on December 3, intending to return home on December 7. However, when police forcibly entered the room in the presence of officers, they discovered the lifeless bodies of the husband, wife, and their two sons. A suicide note written in Telugu was recovered from the room, shedding light on a financial dispute involving the husband in his hometown in Andhra Pradesh.
According to preliminary findings, it is suspected that financial troubles might have driven the entire family to take such a drastic step. Authorities are diligently working to unravel the details surrounding the tragic incident, while the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.
Police Commissioner Mutha Ashok Jain expressed, “Four of them were from the same family from Andhra Pradesh and were staying in an ashram here. Prima facie it appears that he hanged himself.” The Commissioner suggested that personal issues, potentially related to the mentioned financial dispute, may have been a significant factor leading to this heartbreaking mass suicide.
