Ranchi: In a commendable achievement, Ranchi Smart City has secured the second position among the 100 smart cities across the country, as per the rankings released by the Central Government. Ranchi earned a remarkable 324.48 points out of 350, showcasing its notable development initiatives. The rankings, based on overall performance, were officially released on Thursday.
Jharkhand’s capital city fell just short of the top spot, with Surat city in Gujarat securing the first position with 335.79 points. The rankings reflect the comprehensive efforts and achievements in urban development and smart city initiatives.
Amit Kumar, the CEO of Ranchi Smart City, expressed his joy and extended congratulations to the entire team involved in the Smart City Mission. He highlighted the world-class quality of development work in Ranchi Smart City and emphasized the commitment to initiating construction on auctioned plots at the earliest.
Ranchi Smart City, spread across 656 acres of land, is in the final stages of developing its infrastructure. The completion of the command and control center in the ADB area in 2021 has greatly contributed to services like traffic management and monitoring in Ranchi. Additionally, the state-funded Urban Civic Tower project is nearing completion. The city has successfully auctioned 11 plots for various purposes, including residential, mixed-use, institutional, health sector, and public semi-public use. With the fourth phase of auctions on the horizon, Ranchi Smart City is poised for continued progress and development.
