Sources said that these hoardings carry different messages to make people aware of the consequences of drunken driving, rash driving and driving on wrong lanes, as well as taking sudden turns on roads.
We are trying to educate people thorough different ways. We have erected these hoardings with the help of two advertising agencies. On our request, they have provided us unused hoarding posts where traffic safety messages have been written. After this awareness drive, we will enforce the traffic rules by compounding fines from errant drivers, said a senior traffic officer.
We have identified 40 strategic points for installing large hoardings. Eleven were put up at important thoroughfares like in Sakchi, RK Sinha, DSP (traffic), said.
The hoardings are in Hindi and some have catchy slogans like Tez chal mazedar, jaan leti khabardar (Speeding is fun, but it kills) and Suraksha niyam jo kare safal, jeevan kabhi na ho uska bifal (One who follows safety guidelines, his life will always be worthwhile).
